At least 14 parish councils in the Chichester district will have new dedicated websites outlining their work in the community, as a result of a district council initiative.
Cllr John Cherry, the council's portfolio holder for resources, said it was working in partnership with the parish and town councils to enable them to have websites which promoted the excellent work they carried out.

"We are helping them to improve their ability to deliver better services and inform their community more clearly and effectively," he added.

Midhurst Town Council will be the first organisation within the project to launch its website.

The website has been designed in partnership with the town council and built by the district council.

Training has been provided to the town council on how to manage the site and it will have control over the content. The website will be hosted by the district council.

"The websites will enable parish councils to promote all of their services to all of their residents, including access to agendas and minutes of their meetings, how to contact councillors, and providing local information to tourists," said a district council spokesman.
